This winter, Professor Yoshie Itani authored the book 'Nippon Coffee Cup Story,' published by Inaho Shobo. The book narrates the history of coffee cups in Japan, detailing the spread of coffee consumption from Europe to Japan after the Meiji Restoration. The narrative explores the intriguing history of delicate Japanese porcelain, such as Old Noritake, which enjoyed tremendous popularity overseas in the modern era. Considering that these exquisite pieces were crafted by artisans who had not yet experienced coffee, it might be forgivable that the I, despite not being well-versed in coffee, was entrusted with this shooting task.
